Great Cam and a Great Price! Packed with features

We purchased the F7N Redtiger camera about 18 months ago and it has now paid for itself 100x over when it provided evidence to the police and insurance that my wife was not the one at fault in an accident that totaled her vehicle and the other party lied to the police. My wife was going to get the ticket after the officer talked to the other party first, but she was able to show the officer the cam video and they reversed course and issued the ticket to the other party. Then the other party lied to their insurance, but after providing the video to their insurance, the adjuster immediately accepted 100% responsibility.Easy to install and with clearly written English instructions. Great suction cup with integrated GPS antenna makes installation a breeze. Cam will slide off mount if you want to hide it while parked without removing the entire mount. Crystal clear video, front at 4k and back at 2k, produce high resolution video where you can read license plates and even identify who was driving another vehicle.Even more importantly, it has a good app that you can use to directly download video from the cam without pulling the card and taking it to a computer. Just in case you are in an accident, you can instantly download the relevant video to your phone and show to Law Enforcement and e-mail to your insurance company. This is hugely important so a ticket can be issued to the at-fault party on scene as my wife did. If you can’t show the officer when writing the report, they may issue the ticket to the wrong party or no one if they can’t figure out who was at fault. If this happens, it’s a long up-hill battle to get the other party’s insurance to pay out and the police will never cancel an incorrectly issued ticket, so it forces you to go to court to defend yourself. If you are in a serious accident (if anyone goes to the hospital, it’s serious), the officer may confiscate the SD card or even the whole camera for evidence. You may not get it back for weeks or even months. Sometimes they get lost an then you have nothing. Have a copy safely on your phone so you can give it to your insurance company and lawyer immediately!Buy the REDTIGER F7N Dash Cam Hardwire Kit to go with it if you want 24/7 monitoring without killing your car battery. Never wonder who backed into you in a parking lot or keyed your car if it happens to you. Some things that set Redtiger apart from the others:They actually have tech support. We had an issue with one camera not liking our SD card and contacted support to see if we had a bum Cam or bad setting as the issue was intermittent. Turns out it was just a faulty card after running a write test on the computer. Not a big issue as SD cards are cheap, but good to know that if you have an issue that Redtiger does support what they sell.Software updates. We’ve owned the F7N for about 18 months and have received software updates to improve functionality. The cam was great when we got it and even better now with new features added.Proof in the pudding:We liked our F7N so much we just bought another Redtiger cam, a F7N Touch, for a new (to us) vehicle and it’s great too.Note: I wasn’t paid for this review nor given a demo unit or anything else. I’m only a satisfied customer that is enjoying the premium quality and features at a great price vs the big-name competitors and their high prices.

A good dash cam with a competitive price

I am very satisfied with this Redtiger N7NP dash cam. After I used it for about a week, I have decided to buy two more for my wife’s and daughter’s cars. Installation is simple as it is a plug-and-play device. This model is connected to the cigarette lighter. After installing the front and rear cameras with the wirings, I inserted the plug into the cigarette light and the cam-recording started immediately without requiring any special procedure and afterward, the camera is ready for custom setting. I use the Manual button and the up and down button on the right side to override the default and set my preferred settings. In this model, power to the camera is always on because it has a Parking feature that continuously records when the car is park and the engine is off. However, it is designed not to drain out the car battery – the camera will automatically shut off when the battery power is down to certain level but is still sufficient to start the engine. However, you can turn on and off the camera manually by push the power button. Overall:The quality of the cameras is good. It was solidly built. The images on the screen are sharp and the screen is bright. Displays of the images can be switched for easy viewing.I connected the dash cam with my phone. I can view the images on my phone but haven’t try other functions. So I cannot comment on it.I need their assistance to set the time zone, which is important because of the timestamp and another technical issue.. I communicated with them by the phone and with emails. My experience was that they were very knowledgeable and helpful. They seemed willing to do their best to resolve the issue to the customer’s satisfaction. As a result, my unit works as it is supposed to be.Overall, I believe the product that I bought is a good production and Redtiger is a reliable company.

Stunning 4K Dash Cam: Crystal Clear Day and Night, with a Minor Nighttime Quirk

I’m blown away by its performance. The daytime footage is stunning—crystal-clear resolution captures every detail, from license plates to road signs, with vibrant colors and sharp contrast. The wide-angle lens ensures a broad view of the road, and the camera’s sleek design blends seamlessly into my car’s interior. Features like loop recording, G-sensor for collision detection, and easy app connectivity make it a breeze to use. However, I noticed that at night, the camera’s display screen shows a brighter, clearer image than what’s actually recorded. The recorded nighttime footage, while still very good, isn’t quite as vivid as what you see live on the screen. Despite this minor quirk, the low-light performance is impressive for a dash cam in this price range, capturing key details like road markings and vehicles with decent clarity.Overall, this 4K dash camera is a fantastic investment for anyone prioritizing safety and quality. The nighttime recording discrepancy doesn’t detract from its reliability and value—it’s still an amazing piece of tech I’d highly recommend

Works pretty good for me. Good support team.

This camera has worked great for me over the past year. I used it in two minor accidents, which helped me show proof I was not at fault. After a while, the power cord (OBD-II version) started malfunctioning causing the camera to turn on and off randomly. It took me a while to figure out this was the cause. I told Red Tiger and they were able to provide another one. The camera worked perfectly after this. Red Tiger, in my experience, is a good company who is willing to help with their products. They have a good support team. For the specifics of the product, it was a good price I bought on sale for about $130 for the front, rear cameras, and parking kit. The ODB power supply plugs into the ODB-II port under the steering wheel. It’s really easy to set up. This is to record when the car is shut off and parked. The 4K looks really good and clear. The rear camera works well. You can see pretty good at night too. It’s pretty easy to set up too.Overall I’d say this camera works great, and is worth the money. It saved me two out of three times. It may malfunction here and there, but usually can be repaired with replacing something as simple as the power cord or checking the wires. I still use it every day!

    Excellent

I have been using this dash cam for more than a week or so during this hot summer time, so far I am very happy with it, I am especially thankful to this seller’s exceptional customer service, they deserve a 5-start for this job.The dash cam comes with both front (4K) and rear cameras (1080P) and services my purpose well, it works right away once I have both cameras set up – by default it records continually with the best video quality and resolution it can get. The only thing I’d like to bring up is it comes with only 32GB microSD memory card, with the default quality settings, it’d record only about couple of hours long videos without old recordings being overwritten. So if you drive a lot and use this dash cam continuously, you might want to get a larger size memory card, such as 128 or 256GB (max) ones to replace the one comes with the dash cam package. You may order the memory card from them or get one elsewhere easily, just to make sure you get a similar high-endurance card that’s good for dash cam use as shown in the introduction manual. The cameras installation is pretty straightforward, but not without little glitches – you’d want to read the instruction manual carefully before you install this set on your car’s windshield, I wasted both sticky pads since I didn’t pay attention to the details on the manual and I installed it wrong and was stuck on the installation, luckily after talking to the customer service, they responded quickly and sent me a coupe of extra sticky pads for the rescue, so far it works well even with hot summer temperatures out there. The other thing is if you install the rear camera upside down (which is what I did), there is an easy fix for that, you may just flip it using the on device settings – I was initially panic a bit as undoing the sticky pad for the rear camera may damage my rear window’s heating wire since it sticks so well. The only thing I’d see improvements is the REDTIGER app, as it doesn’t allow you to fully control and do the settings via your smart phone – there are certain things can only be done using the on device settings menu on the front camera.

    Has a some issues

Secondary edit: I’m giving them an extra star for their fantastic customer service (none of this was promised for the low low price of a 5 star review) It’s the kind that keeps you loyal. They didn’t blame me for anything I misread (such as stupidly installing the rear camera sideways and complaining about that. A hinge is NOT needed. Just make sure you install it the right side up. The camera can be fully rotated. Look in your car if you want.) They refunded the hardwire kit and got me one that uses the OBD port since my cars fuse box setup is awful. They have a model that can be tilted up/down and side to side. They got me that to try. I am now able to see the whole road, and was able to put the camera even further over so it’s not smack dab in the face of my passenger.Another thing I like that I forgot to point out is that they come with these clear sheets that go on the window before the adhesive. Makes it easier to get off and doesn’t leave a sticky film behind. The hinge I got left a mess and friggin lifted a bit of my window tint -_- Luckily you can’t tell from the outside unless you know and can’t see it in the car cause it’s up high. Still super upset. I had zero issues like that removing the cameras to change them.I don’t know if other cameras come with higher camera quality. There’s probably some super expensive ones that do. But this is good enough you will be able to see the license if anyone rear ends you or if something happens and you rear end someone.I can’t attest to the setting that makes it so if you’re in an accident, or more importantly if you’re hardwired, make it start recording to catch who sideswiped you in the night for example, and locks the video so it can’t be recorded over. I will say I VERY honestly would like to never be able to review that setting.Edit: the camera does show license plates in front of you, just not super far, as I misread in the listing. So if there’s an incident you at least get that.I’ve been informed that the camera has a large temperature range, including over 150° F, so it should be fine within the car.Customer service is super good. Either they use a much better translator, or it the person isn’t using Google translate. There were no offers made to encourage a star change, just offers to make things better, and point out parts of the listing I misread. Which considering many bad reviews I read were about things mentioned in the listing, I am plenty guilty of as well. Will come back later with edits if needed.Firstly, if your want 24/7 recording, the listing mentions you need the attachment that connects to the fuse box, rather than the cigarette lighter. And luckily the attachment comes with a voltage meter, so it shouldn’t drain your battery.Concerned that it runs so hot. It’s still winter so it’s running in the 60s outside right now and it’s quite warm to the touch. I’d hate to know how it’ll be when the weather is 100 outside.I don’t like that you have to be in the car pretty much to access the cameras files, but I will give, it makes sense. It can’t connect to your phone when you’re quite far from it. The reason it bothers me is if someone breaks into the car and takes the memory card, you’re screwed on footage. Alas. One thing I’m docking for is the picture quality. It’s not nearly as good as it claims to be. It wasn’t able to see the license plate of the neighbor across the street. Besidess that, the quality is pretty clear. You can change the videos to record in either 1, 3 or 5 minute clips. It records two separate videos for the front and rear camera.Another issue I have with it is while the front camera can be adjusted to look higher or lower, it can’t be rotated to the sides. At least not easily. I’m really pushing the suction cup to get it to see my side of the car better. In it’s defence, they expect you to attach it behind your rear view, and I can’t as my car has a giant, I dunno, thing, behind it. (I think it’s the housing for the front camera) So I had to put it more on the passenger side. So I won’t fault them too much there.I will fault them for the lack of adjustiblity of the rearview camera. I have no clue why, but Ford Fusions have the STEEPEST rear window I have ever seen. So right now it’s looking at the clouds. I have purchased a hinge to be able to adjust its view. Shouldn’t need to buy an extra part for the thing. (Then again you shouldn’t have to pay 20 bucks to hook it up to the fuse box either.)Anyway, we’ll see how it goes.

3 out of 5 stars – Misleading 4K, Glitchy App, and GPS Barely Functional

I purchased the REDTIGER Dash Cam Front Rear expecting true 4K resolution, but the image quality is underwhelming. While it claims 3840×2160 resolution, the video looks more like upscaled 1080p. The bitrate is low, and compression artifacts are noticeable—especially in motion or low-light conditions. License plates are hard to read unless the vehicle is very close and stopped. The rear camera performs even worse, more like standard 720p.GPS tracking is another disappointment. Although it’s advertised as a feature, it barely works. Location data often doesn’t show up, and when it does, it’s inaccurate or incomplete. You can’t rely on it for any meaningful location logging or speed tracking. The app is clunky and poorly optimized. It takes a long time to connect, crashes frequently, and makes downloading clips a hassle. Basic tasks like previewing footage or changing settings are frustrating due to lag and inconsistent Wi-Fi connectivity. On the plus side, installation is easy, and it includes basic functions like loop recording and G-sensor support for incident detection. But between the misleading 4K label, broken GPS, and glitchy app, it’s hard to recommend unless you’re on a strict budget and just want basic front/rear video coverage.

Great Dashcam. Fabulous Customer Service! Insufficient Parking Mode Instructions (read below).

Purchased this for my wife’s RAV4. I like having both the front and rear cameras and love how compact they are; they are fairly unobtrusive in both locations. The front camera is mostly behind the rear-view mirror (the camera is small enough to easily fit entirely behind the mirror, but the car’s OEM black box against the windshield is already occupying the ideal real estate). The rear camera is tucked up at the top of the rear window (just at the top of the rear wiper sweep area) and is barely noticeable. I liked that I could rotate the rear camera in its holder to the view angle I wanted. The cable length on the rear camera was more than sufficient to reach front-to-back in this car (and easily tucked away behind the headliner and other trim pieces), but I’m not sure if it would be enough for a full-size SUV like an Excursion. It does have an inline connector near the rear camera which was convenient when installing the rear camera and running the wire and may allow for an extension to be used. The video quality looks great. I set my front resolution down to 1080p since I feel that will be sufficient for our day-to-day needs. In my opinion, the quality of the footage will be impacted more by how clean the glass is and the weather conditions outside than the quality of the cameras.I like that I can set whether and how long the screen is visible when the dashcam is on. Most of the time, I prefer to have the displays screen off. It takes some clicking to get through all of the menus, but I found the UI intuitive and easy enough to use.The included lighter adaptor worked fine, but I got the hardwire kit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WCTZ3Y8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1) to run permanently and to enable Parking Mode (see note below).I also got the 3M Mount (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SFY13TZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) so I could mount the camera a bit higher behind the rear-view mirror. I’ll use the suction mount and lighter adaptor when using the dashcam on trips in a rental car. You’ll want to get a larger (e.g. 256 GB) High Endurance U3 SD card (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P4HBRMV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) as the included SD card is only U1.NOTE on the hardwire kit and Parking Mode: I connected the wires as instructed (yellow->BATT, red->ACC, black->GRD) but did not see the behavior I was expecting from the dashcam: the dashcam immediately turned on even though the ACC power was off, and I could not turn on Parking Mode. This led me to believe that the documentation was wrong, so I reversed the red and yellow wires which resulted in the dashcam not turning on until ACC power was on and allowing me to set Parking Mode (or so I thought), so I felt that I had figured it out. However, I then realized that the dashcam would not stay on – it never recorded any footage while the car was on (or off). Gratefully, I found a Q&A response from “Elizabeth B” back on 10/7/2021 which explained how to properly set up Parking Mode (which doesn’t appear to be documented anywhere with either product):1. Connect wires as described above (Yellow = constant 12v, Red = switched 12v, Black = ground).2. Turn on acc power (but do not start engine).3. Press menu button and select “Parking”.4. While blue message box is shown on the F7N display, turn off acc power (this has to be timed well). You should see a new blue message box and the F7N unit will power off.5. Turn acc power back on (but do not start engine).6. Press menu button and select “Parking”.7. You will now see the menu options for Parking Mode and be able to configure it how you like.credit: Elizabeth B.(Attention REDTIGER: You should include these steps in your documentation and compensate Elizabeth.)After reverting my wire connections back to match the documentation and following the steps above, my hardwired dashcam is now functioning perfectly – including Parking Mode.Even though my installation and set-up experience with the hardwire kit wasn’t ideal, I do have to say that the REDTIGER customer service was outstanding! They were responsive, proactive, and empowered to do the right things for their customers. Thank you Nora!As for the apps, the Android app seems to work sufficiently well. It does take a LONG time to download the video files over the dashcam’s wi-fi. I prefer to remove the SD card and copy the files directly to my PC.I’m not very impressed with the PC app (Windows 10) yet. I tried it only once, but it seemed to have a hard time after viewing the first video, and even that wasn’t great. It’s intended to show both front & rear video simultaneously, which I think is great, but I haven’t been able to get it work very well. I’ll try again and see if I can get it run better. I was surprised to discover that the rear camera records audio, so it doesn’t sound great when both front and rear audio are played at the same time. I muted the rear audio and used just the front audio. The video files run just fine on third-part video players.Bottom line: I love the dashcam and rear camera; easy to use; good video; absolutely fabulous customer service.

Does exactly what it says it will do!

After being in a wreck and having my last dashcam destroyed, I had to get a new one. I settled on this one even though a few reviews were less than stellar. I’ve only had it for about a day now, so if anything goes wrong this review may change, but for now here’s my review;Pros: The description of the device is very accurate. It offers a few modes for capture resolution. The Wi-Fi works as expected with their app, and was very useful in getting the rear camera angled correctly. Installation was easier than other models I have used in the past, primarily due to the inclusion of a small pry bar to pull the car panels free. It also came in handy for stuffing the wires into crevasses to make sure everything is hidden well.Cons: I have not had any bad experiences with this unit as of this writing. I will update this review should anything unexpected occur or the device not function as desired.Other thoughts: The inclusion of the static cling film to adhere the rear camera with is pretty amazing. None of the other dash cams I have tried before had anything like them, and suffered from the rear cameras falling off during the hot Florida summers. I ended up screwing the last one I had into the plastic because I was so frustrated. It’s summer now, so I should know pretty soon if it holds up like they say it will. It was also nice to see a proper attempt to bring a Chinese product to the US. The instructions were clear and mostly easy to understand. It was also nice that they included a brand named SD card. (Lexar in my case). While I personally feel that it’s too small, having compatible memory card ready to go out of the box makes setting things up much easier.Overall, I would recommend this camera. Anyone saying they are having issues with it need to read the manual before complaining about it here. Every single 1 and 2 star rating that I read about it could be solved by reading the manual. Even the one where the person was complaining about the rear camera being upside-down… there’s literally a setting to flip it without having to remount it. RTFM!

    Great Support Staff

This is my first dash cam, so other than reading reviews, I new very little. It’s been my experience that the accompanying instruction manuals are often of little help, although this one was slightly better. I also turned to youtube but even they, left things out, that I wanted to know. How do you turn the unit on and off, how do you pause a recording, why are there only four buttons and so many icons and how am I supposed to remember how to use the same button for a variety of functions? There was a phone number in the manual, so I figured I’d better call it in hopes of reducing my frustrations. They were extremely accommodating and ran me though a one on one, step by step, assistance.I also kept trying to use this cam as a touch screen, since after all, every phone these days has this feature. It was explained to me that there was a touch screen but that I had ordered a model without. Believe it, or not, they helped me out with that and I now have a Touch model, F7NT.I gave this five stars because this company is amazing and the cameras are superb. I therefore did not detract a star because I am convinced that they will listen closely, make a few changes and then they will have the best possible cams.Negatives: Too many icons on the cam video screen. The icons are too small and virtually useless because they are on your windshield, which is difficult to reach. All this does is create confusion.Sometimes the cam wants you to turn off wi-fi to access features, which is ridiculous. Wi-Fi should always be on whenever the phone is nearby and it should record to your phone so that you can access all features as you like on your phone. The small screen on the cam is virtually useless.Playback choices should not be visible on the cam. Remove as many icons as possible and apply them only after video is downloaded to your phone or to a computer.Negatives: Downloading to a phone is nearly impossible or at the very least, far too tedious.Solution: Remove the SD card from the cam, utilize a thumb drive for the SD card and view your video on your laptop or PC. There is a Redtiger Player available that you can and should download that contains all of the functions for playback of this cam.Negatives: When playing back the video the informational text for things like time stamp, GPS, etc. shows up at the bottom of the screen, which can sometimes make it hard to read, since it’s also very small.Solution: Place the informational text at the top of the screen, which generally is viewing SKY, and make it larger since this area is not of importance in any way.Negatives: There is a time setting where when files are created, you must choose – 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes. Thereby after downloading files you can select from a bunch of files, presumably to facilitate finding the file you wanted. Still tedious indeed.Solution: As the cam is recording, allow the recording to directly access and download to your phone without interruption. Perhaps have a 1 hour period and then over write to withhold no more than one hour on your phone. If there has been an occurrence you can simply SAVE the file. To view it you could easily see it on your phone or you could send it to your big screen tv. The SD card would merely become a backup for emergency situations.Bottom Line: The suggestions above are really about User Friendliness. If anything, I believe that they have attempted to input too many features. I’m recommending simplifying the process with slightly different thinking. I also recommend buying the Touch model, as without it, it’s somewhat awkward to use. The picture quality is great, front and back and the service is excellent. You get what you pay for.The method of operation and the thought pattern for usage should be that you view your video on a laptop, or pc, on the Player app that is provided. In short, the cam records, the app provides viewing via computer. I really like the app since it provides both front and rear at the same time, plus you can zoom the view and even choose only front or only back as you like. All info is visible like GPS, a google may of travel, speed of travel, date and time. This app is a very important part of the operation. Still it could use a bit of tweaking. Overall, I love this thing. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to have this in the early 80s when I was a private investigator.
