My first Mac, coming from Windows.
Update June 2025, rescoring from 3 stars to 5 for the remarkable stability and raw performance of the computer after using it in clamshell mode for several months, zero lag no matter how many tabs i open in chrome and the wifi and bluetooth are insanely strong, I can hear my headphones all the way in the backyard with zero issues unlike my windows pc.Geforce now a cloud based game streaming service runs with zero issues or drops which solved all my gaming issues.Pros:Very thin, light and sleek.The hardware is very impressive, I mean the psychical build of the laptop and its aluminum build.The screen and keyboard are also very top notch.The m4 chip is very fast, zero lagThe massive 24 gigs of memory is abundant and allows the laptop to tear through tasks.Apples own mac os is fast and snippy and their built in apps are all great!It has great compatibility with my iphone 13 and can even let me use a virtual version of my phone when using the macbook air.Cons:Lack of ports, 2 usb c ports is inadequate.But the biggest issue is this..You simply cannot run as many applications as a windows pc can, alot of my games, engineering, and finance apps are simply not compatible with macos, it could be due to the arm chips in the system or the smaller install base on apple pcs but the fact remains you can’t even run games like overwatch or diablo4 on mac natively…It feels like a glorified ipad.As a massive pc gamer this is a big draw back for me, this makes the mac feel more like a toy and not a serious computing environment.

Best laptop I’ve ever had hands down
I am moving from MS to a Mac for the first time. I used to sell and build computers and peripherals and this is by far the best designed and built machine I’ve ever seen. Both hardware and the OS itself are well thought out and simple to use. Very fast, high quality display. Not OLED but easy to view and much less expensive.To me the best of all is that with the flip of one switch I can disable all the AI it has and just run it without. It makes the battery life much longer and it runs faster too.Only bummer is the lack of internal storage, but I’m taking the old m2 drive from my Windows machine and putting it in an enclosure so I’ll be fine.I am very happy with this computer!

Great choice, fingerprint barely visible now
Probably one of the bet deals and value for money for anyone looking to get a mac rn, as a college student this fits my needs. It is compact and lightweight but at the same time can handle tasks as well as most games if you decided to use it for gaming. Also for those wondering about fingerprints, it’s still visible but your finger would have to be pretty dirty to leave a visible mark in the midnight color.

compressed air is your new best friend
I love the crisp color, the intuitive response of the MacBook Air. I was able to transfer photos from my iPhone easily to my MacBook Air 13 inch. But then, the MacBook quit charging. I tried changing outlets, turning the MacBook off and on. I finally was able to charge the MacBook using a USB-C cord. This morning, I finally looked into the receptor port for the magnetic thingie. There was something the size of a salt crystal, moveable with my fingernail, but I couldn’t remove it. Heavy sigh, I remembered suggestions found online re solving charging problems and I blew out with compressed air, both ends of the charging cable.Viola, the magnet ends clamped together and a little green light came on showing the ends were connected properly. And, yes, the MacBook Air was charging properly.I’d only owned it for 4 days, used it inside the house and discarded the idea that magnetic dirt could have possibly gotten anywhere on anything. Yes, it can…The DVD/CD player i’d gotten with the MacBook works great once you find out how to put the eject button on the top bar of the screen and to figure out what the eject image looks like.I’m 75. That’s how intuitive the Apple MacBook is. Yes, I need to look up things. I’m looking forward to cataloging my pictures and editing them on my MacBook Air.

Beautiful graphics!
I’m still learning all the new ways to operate this. The graphics are awesome. The tutorials are very appreciated. It took a couple of hours to set up after doing all the tutorials. Give yourself time. It asked me to update my software after I had transferred my data. Don’t say yes, it will start all over with none of your data. Just wait until all is complete before doing that. You know that reminder to update won’t disappear while you do.My old laptop could no longer be updated, so I have quite a bit to learn.
