Way better than I expected!!
We had an s9+ for a while and it works great, but my mom wanted something that could also mop. So we got this 405.It was very easy to set up. We downloaded the new app and paired it quick. The mapping on the 405 was very fast. Our house is around 1500 square feet and the map took maybe 13 minutes to be done. Playing with the settings I selected for the mop pads to be automatically wash every 100 square feet.This new Roomba is very precise, when our 5 dog are laying all over the floor and we sent her out, it goes around them perfectly LOL. So it is dog approved 👍.It navigates better than our previous Sapita s9+So far every time we sent it out it has completed the job. My mom wanted to move the chairs every time she, yes to us Roombas are she, went out but I showed her that the 405 can go in between the legs and navigate just fine in and out of the many legs at the dinning table.Being a Combo makes it ten times better. My mom uses the on button to start the robot while I always use the app, that way I can pick extra settings or skip rooms, mom likes to see her just go in every single room every time.Once we had to do an update on the robot and we had to manually turn it on and off, but aside from that we have no issues.Our s9+ was sent to the back house where my sister is using it now.We haven’t decided on a name for it yet.

The Gift of Time
I’ve had robot vacuums before, but never a vacuum and mop combination—and wow, what a difference! As a wife, mom of two, dog mom, and business owner, I don’t have time to mop and vacuum every day. This machine has truly been a game-changer.Right out of the box, I was impressed. The packaging was smart and easy to navigate, with clear, step-by-step instructions that made setup feel completely foolproof. The mop pads snapped on effortlessly, and the app setup was seamless—even updating the software before its first run so I knew we were off to a great start. The water tank lids have a sturdy snap feature that prevents spills—perfect if you have kids helping out.Once it started cleaning, it vacuumed and mopped simultaneously. The most amazing part? It automatically avoided my rugs while mopping. It even cleaned impressively close to walls—just enough to grab dust without splashing water on the baseboards. When needed, it returned to the dock to recharge, clean the mop or refill and then picked up right where it left off.I also love that I can choose which rooms to clean through the app—it mapped my home beautifully, and the customization is a huge plus. Roomba 405 is a great upgrade!
This is the second Roomba I’ve owned and the first thing I noticed when I received this was the updated packaging. The last model’s (i7+) box ripped at the handle when I picked it up with one hand. That being said, this box doesn’t have handles but the material is way better.Unboxing was very intuitive and there were instructions on setup on the packing material which was a nice touch. I love the new modern look of the robot. Well designed.Initial mapping was super quick (I assume it’s the lidar working here) and using the app was easy, too. I only wish the old model could use the new app as I’m moving the old robot (Dexter) to the upstairs as a full time, 2nd story robot. As the 405 was mapping the main floor I had the app open and was surprised to see as walls snapped into place on the map as the robot moved around the room.After mapping was complete (waaaay quicker than the first one…seems I remember it taking several runs to get the full map made) I sent it on its first cleaning run. It was nearly flawless from the get-go. I can see where it went in the app and it got virtually the entire map. When it returned to the base unit at the end I noticed the empty cycle (where the base cleans the robot) was a bit quieter than the old one which is a nice bonus. The new robot seemed to clean better but we’ll see if that holds over time.

I love this machine…the app could use tweaking
I want to totally love this Roomba. I am not a fan of vacuuming and this machine is helping me a lot. There are a few app quirks that are currently annoying me right now though.The machine dock has reservoirs for clean water and a dirty water. The pads whirl on the base and clean themselves. You can even adjust how often they do this. The Roomba empties the dust bag when it finishes the job and washes the pads then dries them. Unfortunately it doesn’t always do this when it errors, and my machine has been giving me an errors lately.The app tells me that it cannot enter a space scheduled for cleaning or there’s an obstacle in the way. There is no obstacle, no space to go into, all the lights are on, and the machine sensors are clean so I’m baffled and have had to reset the machine a few times. I’ve redone my scheduled automations in different ways to see if this will stop happening. I also make sure to remove obstacles and make rooms ready to clean prior to the runs. This morning Roomba ran the entire automation flawlessly including a cleaning zone, so maybe I am getting there.The app allows clean-zones and keep-out zones. They are all rectangles by default and very tricky to get into place properly. The app won’t allow me to enlarge the map or make tiny adjustments when creating zones. Apparently they can’t overlap with each other either. I encountered many errors while attempting to edit the map for my needs, and it was fiddly to get the edits in the right places. When mapping the house the camera did create a whole faux room from a floor level mirror. I couldn’t delete the room, so I created a keep-out zone and that seems to be working fine.I want to give the vacuum a high rating because I am thrilled with how it cleans, but I am annoyed with the app right now, and I haven’t even tried to connect to an Alexa. Many app issues are totally dependent on your home and your needs. I suspect eventually I will tweak the sequences to keep Roomba and me happy. I do keep thinking it shouldn’t be so difficult to get it right. It’s got some good features too.The machine itself is doing a really good job when it is cleaning. I love that the Roomba switches between carpet and vinyl flooring so well. I have 2 small dogs who never wipe their feet, and the vac picks up their hair off both carpet and vinyl. I am really impressed with how well it’s been cleaning all my floors.Regular Roomba general maintenance is needed to fill and empty the reservoirs, to clean sensors and brushes. This took me about 5 minutes this morning including wiping the docking unit down. The dirt bags and brushes will eventually need to be replaced so I have ordered more. The price for these was reasonable. There is a place in the app that tells you when the brushes and filter will need to be replaced. The app also allows manual emptying, pad washing and doing rooms or zones.I do not want to be without a good vacuum robot ever again. I highly recommend getting one, especially if you have a hard time keeping up with your floors like I did. I also recommend getting the best one you can afford, whether it’s this one or another version. It’s an amazing robot, and I am so grateful to have this vacuum.UPDATE: It’s been a few days and I did get the machine to do morning and evening automations successfully for 3 days now without an error. It took a fair amount of careful tweaking, but I’m feeling pretty happy about how the unit is working right now.

Excellent performing robotic vacuum and mopping device.
I have owned a couple of robotic vacuums over the past several years. My latest robot is a vac only and I have used it for several years. During the past several months I have seen some commercials for the robots with these new mopping features. So, I started my research and came across this new Roomba Combo 405 during my search. Since my last robot vac was an older Roomba that did a great job with vacuuming for several years, I figured I would at least have a great robot vacuum. Not surprising this robots vacuuming performed better than my current one, especially in the corners and on the edges.But, my biggest surprise was with the new app performance, and multiple easy to use helpful features, and my goodness the mapping was much quicker than my last robot, and certainly extremely accurate. If I stopped here I’d still recommend this new Roomba to everyone, but once I witnessed the mopping I thought it would do a fair mopping job, at best. Apparently, this company did its research because the mopping completely surprised me by doing a fantastic job, even cleaning and drying the mop heads without me, or my kids touching it, and reaching up under the cabinet overhang cleaning stains which my kids would always miss while mopping. I am super happy with my purchase. This is a great addition to our household. Functionality:Very easy to use.Mapping is quick and accurate.This robot avoids my kids shoes, bookbags, and other items around my home.Cleans and dry the spinning mopping pads.Does a great job mopping and vacuuming.

I have had the Roomba 405 for a couple of days now and overall I’m fairly pleased. There are a few things I didn’t know but once I found out it was a good experience.The good:1. My floors have never been cleaner. It is equivalent to going around my house with a vacuum and then a mop and bucket it’s that good. I like that it cleans the pads frequently getting all the dirty water out.2. My house was mapped in 10min with some rooms being completely dark. I loved my old iRobot but one of my complaints about my s9 was that it couldn’t see in the dark. They seemed to somehow fix this issue because the camera mapped rooms that had no lights on at all with very good accuracy. We like running the robot at night and found this new bot didn’t have issues in the dark like the last one.3. I like the live view of the robot in the house. I moved my other robot upstairs I wish it had this feature in the old app too.The Bad;1. The “clean” button is now the “power”button, not really a bad but I was just confused and just miss the clean button :-)2. For the life of me I don’t know why there are two apps but the apps are linked so I can easily access my 405 and s9.Overall setup was fairly easy and I’m extremely impressed with the robots cleaning ability. Not sure if it’s okay but I added a little cleaning solution to my robot and it makes my floors smell great when I walk down stairs in the morning.

Great vacuum, so easy to use!!
I have had this vacuum for a few days now and I am so impressed. It is so much more advanced and simple to use than my older vacuum.It was super simple to set up from the box and it mapped the entire first floor of my house in about 15 minutes. I love that you can section rooms off on the map, rename rooms, etc to get a super customizable clean. You can also designate heavy traffic areas and have Roomba clean just those areas.Once it started cleaning, I knew I was going to be very happy with it. It never gets stuck in tight spots and it has been able to continue cleaning without any issues every time I have ran it. The mopping feature is great also. It does everything 100% on its own. You just designate the area to mop and it takes care of everything else including keeping the mop pads clean during mopping and then thoroughly cleaning and drying them at the end.Finally, I love the customization available on the app. You can set up schedules with any combination of rooms and designate how deep of a clean to perform as well as if you want mopping and vacuuming, or just vacuuming.Overall this is a GREAT robot vacuum and I highly recommend it!!

It doesn’t do the job well.
Despite being a Roomba fan, this vacuum mop has disappointed me. It has many drawbacks: it’s very loud, the app for vacuuming is unbearable. The vacuum often gets lost, and it doesn’t follow the app’s instructions when set to vacuum only one room. Worst of all, it stained my floor when it rolled on the rubber wheel. I don’t know if the unit I received was defective, but it didn’t meet my expectations. It took me longer to get it to work than it did to vacuum manually.

Very impressed by Roomba
I purchased the Roomba 405. I was truly dreading setting up a robot and having to go through the instructions on how to operate. To my surprise it was super easy to set up. The three pieces snapped together seamlessly. Not having to read through never ending instructions was great as well. Just downloaded the app and it set itself up. This holds value to me from the start. Next was how efficient the cleaning process is. Being able to control operating times is perfect for a busy house where there isn’t a lot of time to clean. Waking up to a clean mud room and kitchen floor every day will never get old!!! I really didn’t realize how seamless these machines could work. The technology is quite impressive. I am not a tech loving person but the value this product holds for me is more than worth it. Next will be to get one for the second floor for sure.

I didn’t know how much I needed this Roomba until I started using it. The set up was very easy and the app literally guides you step by step. Mapping the house was so easy and fast and I was amazed at how it captured every space in every room. I was worried about the noise level, but it is not disturbing at all. The bin was packed with stuff my regular vacuum has been missing and the floors looked so clean after the first run. The way it cleans under the bed and furniture is amazing because having pets means hair gets everywhere and I couldn’t move the furniture to clean under it and now I don’t even have to worry about it. No issues with bin space at all because it just empties itself when it gets full and then goes right back to cleaning. Also, these new models look sleek and high end, and I am happy to show it off to my friends and I have been telling everyone if they are on the fence to make the purchase. I wish I hadn’t waited so long.

This holds value to me from the start. Next was how efficient the cleaning process is. Being able to control operating times is perfect for a busy house where there isn’t a lot of time to clean. Waking up to a clean mud room and kitchen floor every day will never get old!!! I really didn’t realize how seamless these machines could work. The technology is quite impressive. I am not a tech loving person but the value this product holds for me is more than worth it. Next will be to get one for the second floor for sure.

I didn’t know how much I needed this Roomba until I started using it. The set up was very easy and the app literally guides you step by step. Mapping the house was so easy and fast and I was amazed at how it captured every space in every room. I was worried about the noise level, but it is not disturbing at all. The bin was packed with stuff my regular vacuum has been missing and the floors looked so clean after the first run. The way it cleans under the bed and furniture is amazing because having pets means hair gets everywhere and I couldn’t move the furniture to clean under it and now I don’t even have to worry about it. No issues with bin space at all because it just empties itself when it gets full and then goes right back to cleaning. Also, these new models look sleek and high end, and I am happy to show it off to my friends and I have been telling everyone if they are on the fence to make the purchase. I wish I hadn’t waited so long.
