Great desktop alternative

I love this computer. It’s fast, it’s a Mac, and it’s as little as you can get. We needed a desktop at home and I was looking for alternatives. This is by far the best one we could find. I had a gamer laptop that served as a desktop most of the time. I didn’t like the fact of the space it took on my desk, and how uncomfortable it was to charge it. I won’t enter into specifics, you have already made your research. If this computer meets your needs, get it.I bought it from Amazon as it’s cheaper than Apple. I don’t know why because this one is also new. But I’m really glad I saved a few bucks.

Makes my vocal booth sing

I hope you like puns, dawg.Anyway, this thing is doing seriously heavy lifting, running Cubase sessions without breaking a sweat. It’s a glorious time to be alive – in 2024, I owned zero Apple products. It’s June 2025, and I’ve got 2 Mac Minis (one for the vocal booth, and one for my home office) and a Mac Mini Pro (primary music workstation).All three of these together cost less and pack more power than the custom-built PC I’d been using.Just a brilliant experience for everything except gaming, for which Macs are still basically unsupported.

Does Innovation Come with Issues?

I got locked out of my Windows 10 desktop by a ridiculous Windows security program. I had no idea that could even happen and the fix resulted in the loss of every file and photo on my PC, plus the programs that ran them. At that point, I decided it was time to switch to a MAC. This little five inch square box sure looked better to me than the huge tower that was sitting under my desk. I researched online tech forums and decided this MAC Mini was the product I wanted to replace my old PC. To be honest, the switch to MAC from Windows has not been completely easy and I have had to reach out to Apple support for a number of problems. Most of the issues I’ve had with the new Mini have been with connectivity. I had already purchased USB-A to USB-C adapters but I have wondered if that is not a great thing to have to do because at times the Mini seems confused. I purchased a non Apple keyboard and mouse that are MAC compatible and they were working fine until I plugged in a portable card reader. I have to add that the Mini doesn’t have one. Both the keyboard and mouse went completely dead. They had power but no connectivity to the Mini. Most Apple support agents I’ve spoken to are quite technologically sharp and helpful, but I’ve had some who have intimated that my issues have been due to my use of third party peripherals. If fluid compatibility is linked to one’s purchasing only Apple Magic products, which are very expensive, that should be noted in the description of the Mini device. I eventually was able to reach a support agent who decided to install a Sequoia .4 to my Mini which came with a .3.1. I hope this solves my problems, but after this experience I was ready to send the Mini back. Unfortunately I discovered the return period on the Mini at Amazon is only 15 days and I had struggled beyond that. I hope the Sequoia update will solve my issues but I did decide to purchase the Satechi Mac Mini M4 Hub which adds a built in card reader and USB a ports. If I have to buy a Magic Keyboard and Mouse, I’ll be back to edit this review.

Amazing piece of limit function tech.

I couldnt be more happy with this purchase.CON,.,., MAJOR con for some…Apple designed this with the wifi pointing down and outwards.Why on earth they did this is one of the reasons why engineers shouldnt design products.Designers should then designers make it work.The fact that only a couple of stand/docks work with it without hindering the wifi signal is just dumbfounding and amazing.Aside from that you will never notice any improvement over your last mac mini in the last 5 yrs for day to day use.I am not a video editor, or anything of the sort, this is a workstation for me, and honestly, vs the last intel models, vs the M1, M2,,, etc,, there is almost no difference.There are very few games that work with it and it will take steam mostly to make it work unless you are in the market to spend 2-3x as much for the mac version from the app store…Does it work ohhhhh yes amazingly so.Gaming and video editing will amaze you for what it is…. but its not, for normal web, document and other basic things any better than any other mac mini in the last 5+ yrs.Do i regret this,,, not for for 1 second, i love you and i know you will to!

Most Apple support agents I’ve spoken to are quite technologically sharp and helpful, but I’ve had some who have intimated that my issues have been due to my use of third party peripherals. If fluid compatibility is linked to one’s purchasing only Apple Magic products, which are very expensive, that should be noted in the description of the Mini device. I eventually was able to reach a support agent who decided to install a Sequoia .4 to my Mini which came with a .3.1. I hope this solves my problems, but after this experience I was ready to send the Mini back. Unfortunately I discovered the return period on the Mini at Amazon is only 15 days and I had struggled beyond that. I hope the Sequoia update will solve my issues but I did decide to purchase the Satechi Mac Mini M4 Hub which adds a built in card reader and USB a ports. If I have to buy a Magic Keyboard and Mouse, I’ll be back to edit this review.

Amazing piece of limit function tech.

I couldnt be more happy with this purchase.CON,.,., MAJOR con for some…Apple designed this with the wifi pointing down and outwards.Why on earth they did this is one of the reasons why engineers shouldnt design products.Designers should then designers make it work.The fact that only a couple of stand/docks work with it without hindering the wifi signal is just dumbfounding and amazing.Aside from that you will never notice any improvement over your last mac mini in the last 5 yrs for day to day use.I am not a video editor, or anything of the sort, this is a workstation for me, and honestly, vs the last intel models, vs the M1, M2,,, etc,, there is almost no difference.There are very few games that work with it and it will take steam mostly to make it work unless you are in the market to spend 2-3x as much for the mac version from the app store…Does it work ohhhhh yes amazingly so.Gaming and video editing will amaze you for what it is…. but its not, for normal web, document and other basic things any better than any other mac mini in the last 5+ yrs.Do i regret this,,, not for for 1 second, i love you and i know you will to!

Great desktop alternative

I love this computer. It’s fast, it’s a Mac, and it’s as little as you can get. We needed a desktop at home and I was looking for alternatives. This is by far the best one we could find. I had a gamer laptop that served as a desktop most of the time. I didn’t like the fact of the space it took on my desk, and how uncomfortable it was to charge it. I won’t enter into specifics, you have already made your research. If this computer meets your needs, get it.I bought it from Amazon as it’s cheaper than Apple. I don’t know why because this one is also new. But I’m really glad I saved a few bucks.

Makes my vocal booth sing

I hope you like puns, dawg.Anyway, this thing is doing seriously heavy lifting, running Cubase sessions without breaking a sweat. It’s a glorious time to be alive – in 2024, I owned zero Apple products. It’s June 2025, and I’ve got 2 Mac Minis (one for the vocal booth, and one for my home office) and a Mac Mini Pro (primary music workstation).All three of these together cost less and pack more power than the custom-built PC I’d been using.Just a brilliant experience for everything except gaming, for which Macs are still basically unsupported.

Does Innovation Come with Issues?

I got locked out of my Windows 10 desktop by a ridiculous Windows security program. I had no idea that could even happen and the fix resulted in the loss of every file and photo on my PC, plus the programs that ran them. At that point, I decided it was time to switch to a MAC. This little five inch square box sure looked better to me than the huge tower that was sitting under my desk. I researched online tech forums and decided this MAC Mini was the product I wanted to replace my old PC. To be honest, the switch to MAC from Windows has not been completely easy and I have had to reach out to Apple support for a number of problems. Most of the issues I’ve had with the new Mini have been with connectivity. I had already purchased USB-A to USB-C adapters but I have wondered if that is not a great thing to have to do because at times the Mini seems confused. I purchased a non Apple keyboard and mouse that are MAC compatible and they were working fine until I plugged in a portable card reader. I have to add that the Mini doesn’t have one. Both the keyboard and mouse went completely dead. They had power but no connectivity to the Mini. Most Apple support agents I’ve spoken to are quite technologically sharp and helpful, but I’ve had some who have intimated that my issues have been due to my use of third party peripherals. If fluid compatibility is linked to one’s purchasing only Apple Magic products, which are very expensive, that should be noted in the description of the Mini device. I eventually was able to reach a support agent who decided to install a Sequoia .4 to my Mini which came with a .3.1. I hope this solves my problems, but after this experience I was ready to send the Mini back. Unfortunately I discovered the return period on the Mini at Amazon is only 15 days and I had struggled beyond that. I hope the Sequoia update will solve my issues but I did decide to purchase the Satechi Mac Mini M4 Hub which adds a built in card reader and USB a ports. If I have to buy a Magic Keyboard and Mouse, I’ll be back to edit this review.
