Love this thing
I love this thing. I use it more than my Chi. The wave gives a bit more volume and fluidity to my hair. I do wish it weren’t so easy to accidentally turn off. But that doesn’t keep me from using it.

This review is for FOCALA Hair Straightener Curling Iron in 1,Twisted Flat Iron Hair Straightener for Straightening and Curling Hair,Dual VoltageI have had the opportunity to test many hair straightening and curling irons, and this one is my favorite so far. The straightener has a twist to it that I wasn’t sure I’d like. For me, it seemed to provide a somewhat better grip on my hair that allowed for both better straightening and curling results. The plates are wide enough to hold a decent amount of hair in one pass, and they’re smooth with no damaging snag points. I typically am not thrilled with the curling results from a lot of the straightener/curling combo irons. This one does a really nice job of both. I was concerned that the twist in the iron would make for weird bangs, but it just added a tiny bit more lift that I found to be a good look. The curls that the iron produced at a lower heat setting are more like gentle waves that lasted all day long. A higher heat setting would likely produce more defined curls, but I didn’t test that since it’s not something I was looking for.The iron has easy to use controls and an easy to read temp display. I like that the controls are easy to access and inside of the handle so that you’re not accidentally hitting the buttons whiles styling your hair. The cord is sufficiently long and swivels 360 degrees making it easy to use at any angle. It has dual voltage making it ideal for travel. It’s also fairly lightweight so it’s not fatiguing on your arm. I’m very happy with this twisty iron.

Not all that
I have had irons like this in the past and typically just one pass should be able to give you the type of wave or curl that you need it did not do that for me. The idea behind one like this is to be able to either curl or straighten and it was way more functional as a straightener and I have had others in the past of a similar type I am pretty good with technique so I do not believe that was the issue. I ended up returning it.

Meh
It heats up fast which is awesome. However the curl is very light. If I’m going to spend the time to curl it I want it to be like wow. This does a very natural looking curl which fell out fast

Good for reducing the number of tools you have! (If you don’t curl a lot)
Heats up faster than my previous hair straightener and also can curl. Technically, you can curl with a regular straightener, but this one makes it easier. I don’t think it could fully replace two tools if you do a lot of curling because it doesn’t quite curl as well as curling iron, but it’s not bad. The heat is adjustable, so you can get it to the right temp for your hair. My hair holds curls or straightening well to begin with and I didn’t have any trouble keeping my hair straight all day (plus some), but curls did slowly fall al the day went out (as can be expected). It’s a great price (~$35 as I write this) and if you’re looking to maybe have fewer tools to deal with and don’t expect a lot of curling, then I’d certainly recommend this Straightener/Curling Iron combo.

Wanted this to be a gamechanger
This was really difficult to use for me. Curls felt uneven and it felt like it kept snagging my hair in the sides of the iron plates. I think it’s actually harder than curling with a true straightening iron.
